The Singapore and Maldives national team came together for a pre-match press conference held at the Jalan Besar Stadium conference room on Monday, 6 June 2011.

The Lions were represented by Coach Raddy and defender Safuwan Baharudin. The Maldives team was represented by Coach Diego Andres Cruciani and team captain Ashfaq Ali.

Coach Raddy thanked the Maldives team for coming on such short notice and affirmed that they are a strong opposition to play against. He also said that he is looking forward to give the new players a chance to showcase their skills. Safuwan Baharudin shared Raddy’s view on the new players too. He also added the team has a good mixture of experienced and new players and that preparation has been good.

He also said: “We have only started preparations and this game will allow me the chance to take a look at some of the new players. Maldives is a good opposition to play against and will provide us with a good test to see where our team is at.”

The Maldives team has been in good form of late and are garnered some good results in the AFC Challenge Cup 2012. Maldives Coach Diego Andres Cruciani played down his team’s unbeaten run and asserted that his team is looking forward to the match tomorrow evening.

Cruciani said: “We have only had two days to prepare and I do not know much about the Singapore team so we will go out there and do our best.”
