Two years ago, Dhukhilan Jeevamani's coach David Sivalingam died suddenly of a heart attack.
The young defender channelled his angst and pain positively, and has developed in leaps and bounds over the past two years.
From almost quitting football totally after failing to get into the Singapore Sports School when he was 12, the youngest of three siblings has shown maturity and courage beyond his years in captaining the Cubs to an unexpected runners-up finish in the Canon Lion City Cup in July.
After playing at left-back in the AYG and during last year's Youth Olympic Games (YOG), Dhukhilan also slotted into the heart of defence for the Lion City Cup in place of injured regular skipper Jeffrey Lightfoot.
