AS ADAM Swandi was changing out of his kit after a photoshoot for this Dollah Kassim Award feature at the Jalan Besar Stadium two weeks ago, he was approached by Albirex Niigata coach Koichi Sugiyama.
"Are you Adam Swandi?" the coach asked, extending his hand to give a handshake.
After the 15-year-old acknowledged the question with a smile, Sugiyama turned to this reporter and said: "He is the No.10 from the Lion City Cup, right? I like him a lot. Very skilful, very clever."
A flustered Adam simply smiled and thanked the former Japan Under-23 defender profusely for the compliments.
But the son of former Lions striker Swandi Kitto should be used to his new-found fame by now.
His virtuoso performances for the national Under-15 side in July's Canon Lion City Cup catapulted him as the next great hope of Singapore football.
Now, everybody wants to know him.
