Tampines Rovers 1 Home United 1

SINGAPORE - Title contenders Tampines Rovers and Home United kept their unbeaten streaks intact after sharing the spoils in a 1-1 draw at the Jalan Besar Stadium on Friday.

Aleksandar Duric opened the scoring for Tampines in the seventh minute, after being put through by an Aliff Shafaein slide-rule pass, for his fifth goal in six matches.

The Stags kept control of the game with their delightful pass-and-move style and carved out several excellent chances, yet failed to seriously test Lionel Lewis in the Home goal.

Tampines, who have a game in hand, paid for their profligacy when Home hit back with just nine minutes remaining.

Referee Sukhbir Singh awarded Home a contentious free-kick and Shi Jiayi's delivery was nodded home by Frederic Mendy.

Invigorated by the goal, Home pressed in search of a winner but were denied by the brilliance of Tampines goalkeeper Hassan Sunny.

Tampines coach Steven Tan was clearly disappointed with the result.

"This game was two points lost for us, we could have killed off the game much earlier before Home scored and they didn't trouble us too much before the goal too," said Tan, who refused to read too much into the result or performance.

"We played well and controlled the game, especially in the first half but it's still very early in the season and we'll put this result behind us and focus on the next game."

Home's Korean coach Lee Lim Saeng was clearly pleased his side escaped with a point, which ensured that they kept their 24-match unbeaten run, which started from last season, intact.

"If we had lost our 24-match unbeaten run, the players' morale would have dropped but we didn't lose the game and I can't say I'm unhappy with the result," he said.
