Home's April nightmare continues

Source

SINGAPORE - They only managed a 1-1 draw with Tampines Rovers on April 1, then fell 2-0 to SAFFC last week.

It certainly has been a nightmare month for title favourites Home United, who lost 1-0 to defending champions Etoile FC at Bishan Stadium in a Great Eastern-Yeo's S-League clash last night.

It means Home have collected only one point out of nine in matches against their three title rivals, which will worry fans of the Bishan-based club.

With injuries forcing forwards Qiu Li and Sufian Anuar, and defender Juma'at Jantan to sit on the sidelines, Home fell to a Theo Raymond goal in the 64th minute on a night of stop-start football, with several niggly fouls and few clear goalscoring opportunities.

Said a disappointed Home coach Lee Lim Saeng: "I think if our injured players return, we can perform better. I'm confident that with a full squad we will get better results against the big teams."

Home have slumped to fourth spot in the 12-team league, three points behind leaders Tampines.

French outfit Etoile moved into second place, just one point behind the Stags, but having played one game more.

Said Etoile coach Guglielmo Arena: "I'm happy about our team spirit. Now, our players are starting to feel that we can win the title again." Shamir Osman
