The Football Association of Singapore (FAS) announced today that Kingsmen Exhibits Pte Ltd has been awarded the contract to expand the seating and hosting capacity of Jalan Besar stadium, the Singapore venue for the 2012 Malaysia Cup matches. Under the contract, 2,000 additional seats will be built parallel to King George's Avenue, along with two corporate VIP boxes built at the Grandstand section of  the stadium.
“I believe that the expansion of the seating capacity at Jalan Besar Stadium by 30% will help us reach out to more football fans and enable them to watch both the thrilling 2012 M.League and S.League season matches ‘live’ at the stadium and enjoy the match day experience. I would like to express my sincere appreciation to all the relevant authorities for their strong support on this project and also to Kingsmen Exhibits Pte Ltd for taking up this project. I am pleased to note that we are now in the final phase of preparations for the start of the M.League and S.League  football season, and more details pertaining to other key initiatives and programmes  will be announced shortly,” said FAS President Zainudin Nordin.
Kingsmen’s proposal included building a minimum of 2000 seats and meeting the timeline set for completion, before the first match in January
“We are delighted to be selected as a partner of FAS as Singapore makes a return to the exciting Malaysian football competitions. The Malaysia Cup carries a special place in the heart of many Singaporeans, and we look forward to playing our part in making Singapore’s participation in the Malaysian competitions a much-followed and talked about event once again,” Anthony Chong, managing director of Kingsmen Exhibits Pte Ltd.
All  expansion works are expected to be completed in time for the opening match for the Malaysia Super League in  January 2012.
