SINGAPORE - Lions' defender Safuwan Baharduin has been granted approval by Home Team officials to join up with Radojko Avramovic's squad for Singapore's opening fixture of the third round World Cup qualifiers away to China on Sept 2.
19-year-old Safuwan is in full-time National Service with the Singapore Police Force, and despite fears that he would not be able to follow up his sterling performances against Malaysia in the second round qualifiers, he received news of permission to travel to Bangkok for the Lions' final warm-up friendly, as well as to Kunming to face China.
Having utilized the 20 off days allowed for national duty, Safuwan has been allowed to use the remainder of his annual leave days to ensure that he can travel with the team from Aug 22 to Sept 3.
