Jun 25, 2011 SINGAPORE - The Football Association of Singapore's (FAS) disciplinary committee (DC) issued their verdict on Tuesday, imposing fines and player suspensions on Hougang United and Etoile FC for their part in a pre-match fracas that forced their S-League game to be called off even before kick-off on May 23.
On Thursday, Hougang chairman Bill Ng lashed out at the DC for being unfair.
In response yesterday, S-League chief executive officer Winston Lee said: "The FAS take a serious view of the contents of the letter and will conduct a thorough investigation into the remarks and allegations that have been brought up by Mr Bill Ng."
Reigning S-League champions Etoile, on the other hand, have said they are satisfied and only want to concentrate on football.
But they are again in the news, after the shock announcement last night that founding chairman Johan Gouttefangeas would be replaced by Hicham Moudden.
Moudden was vice-chairman of another S-League club, Tanjong Pagar United.
Moroccan Moudden, 41, has been a major investor in Etoile since the club's debut last year.
He said: "Credit must be given to Mr Gouttefangeas and his management team for the excellent job they have done for Etoile FC.
"However, we cannot rest on our laurels and I am pleased to share that we have identified several courses of action which we will adopt as we seek to bring Etoile FC to the next level."
MediaCorp understands Gouttefangeas has left to pursue other interests relating to local football.
Coach of Etoile's double-winning side, Patrick Vallee, who left the club after a falling out with Gouttefangeas last year, is back in the Republic for a holiday.
He currently coaches AFC Compiegne in the fourth division of French football and told MediaCorp yesterday that he would like to return to the club next year. SHAMIR OSMAN
