Match Statistics for Match 19 - Tampines Rovers vs Sengkang Punggol (9 Mar 2009)

GREAT EASTERN-YEO'S S.LEAGUE 2009
MATCH 19: TAMPINES ROVERS vs SENGKANG PUNGGOL
9 Mar 2009, 1945hrs, Tampines Stadium

Match Summary
Tampines Rovers finally secured their first win in season 2009 after their dramatised 2-0 win over Sengkang Punggol at the Tampines Stadium.

It was all Tampines as the match kicked off on a muddy patch and clearly in their mind that the elusive three points were what the hosts were chasing for.

That sheer aggression paid off in the 22nd minute when Noh Alam Shah slammed home with a low driver, having latched onto a well-delivered Aliff Shafaein's cross from the left.

To add salt to Sengkang's wound, Joey Sim was sent off right before the end of the first half for his obstruction on an on-surging Alam Shah at the edge of the box, amid a collapsing Dolphins' defence.

Sim's replacement Amos Boon almost gifted the hosts another goal, when he slipped a Ridhuan Muhamad's cross from the right with Alam Shah anticipated at near post with easy tap-in that went off target in the 56th minute.

66th minute saw the Dolphins' defence guilty for another slip that saw an unchallenged Alam Shah making way through the fragile backline, before the ace striker impatient got ahead him with his long range attempt that gone wide.

The closest the visitors came close to equalize was on the 72nd minute with Anthony Bahadur was denied from making connection to an Indra Sahdan's ball from the right in the box.

Things were not going Dolphins' way when Boon was given the marching order in the 77th minute for an infringement in the box and saw Thai midfielder Sutee Suksomkit made no mistake from the spot.
