Match Summary
Gombak United beat Albirex Niigata (S) 3-0 at the Jalan Besar Stadium.
Gombak started the game in an agressive pace as compared to their oppenents Albirex, whose patient approach did well to hold the Bulls at bay, until 23rd minute when Gabriel Obatolo put them in front from the spot after Emmanuel Emuejeraye was brought down in the box by Ryota Kobayashi.
Agu Casmir almost made it two-nil in the 28th minute, but White Swans' keeper Yoshito Matsushita's unorthodox save did well to deny the Lions striker from putting his name on the scoreboard.
Akira Takase's brave effort in the 32nd minute could have levelled the scores, but his diving header off a Keisuke Ogawa's free kick from the left went off target.
Crowds at the stadium could hardly believed their eyes, when Ogawa's 43rd minute one-on-one against Fadhil Salim saw the 23-year old striker misplaced his shot to the right in an almost certain situation.
Kenji Adachihara forced his way through a packed Bulls' backline to search for that equalizer which was well covered by Fadhil in the 48th minute, as the play resumed after the interval.
Casmir unable to make full use of the sixes-sevens in the Japanese defence in the 66th minute and blown his shot over the bar.
A quick counter-attack initiated from their own half in the 73rd minute saw the Bulls torn apart the porous Albirex's defence with Obatola had the easiest of task to tap home from close range following some well strung passes between Ruhaizad Ismail and Casmir.
Ruhaizad Ismail's lob over a stranded Matsushita completed the rout and confined the Japanese at the foot of the table.
